“Follow the Heart of the Trail”
Track-Trailing is the description we use for the Scent Imprint for Dogs (SIFD) trailing system / method evolved by Wesley Visscher SIFD.
This method is more than Mantrailing as Track-Trailing is all about allowing the dogs to work a scent trail in ways they naturally would, we see the dogs using all of their superpowers, not just racing to the end – think reward all along the trail rather than reward only at the end of a trail.
Track-Trailing offers both a strong addition to the skill set/tool kit for existing Mantrailing teams, as well as being a complete Trailing style for those new to the sport.
We see the dogs being more true to the route that the person has followed, it’s about them predominantly following the heart of the trail, not footstep tracking, just using all their natural skills.
Our Trailing sessions run as mixed experienced groups, we can adapt the trails for Mantrailing or Track-Trailing to suit the need and work with the team in front of us because at PK9 we believe that “no one style fits all”
I am a SIFD Level 1 & 2 Instructor and trail my own dog Pixie at this level. It’s super fun.
